Pen Y Fan: Code Red are taking a hike!
We’re never a team to back away from a challenge. Over the years, we have tackled triathlons, climbed Mount Snowdon, submerged ourselves in ice-cold water, risked (mild) electrocution as we flung ourselves around a Tough Mudder course, and ambled along the beautiful Jurassic Coast.
At the beginning of the year, we asked ourselves what our 2023 challenge was going to be. It must be suitably challenging but inclusive for all at the same time. Plus, we wanted to show off some of the wonders of the UK to our intrepid Boston-based colleagues who are flying in for the event.
With a strong Welsh voice in our midst (step up Ruth who heads up our Cardiff presence 😉), there could only be one choice. Let’s take a hike up Pen Y Fan!
So, on Saturday 23rd September, when most normal people will be sipping their morning coffees and maybe indulging in a spot of shopping, 13 of us will be up as the sun rises and donning our walking boots to set off up a mountain.
Alongside the Pen Y Fan hike, we’ll also be setting ourselves up beforehand with a spot of breathwork, yoga, and, rumour has it, a cold plunge dip as well. Here’s hoping the slightly warmer temperatures in the UK we are currently experiencing stick around!
This is more than a bonding experience – which will certainly be as we share a house for the weekend! Ultimately, we are also raising money for our charity of the year: Woking & Sam Beare Hospice.
This incredible charity is local to our new Code Red UK home in Woking. They provide vital support and end-of-life care to those with life-limiting illnesses.
Every penny counts as we raise vital funds for the Woking & Sam Beare Hospice. So, if you fancy sponsoring the team as we walk up the Welsh hills – you can donate via JustGiving here.
