World Book Day: Find the Time for a Good Book Today

By Matt Brown, Content Manager, Code Red

Happy World Book Day! It’s an easy day to overlook if you aren’t busy getting children into literary costumes (pictured, mine as Frog and Toad) but it’s a good day to remind everyone of the value of reading. Most of us here at Code Red are keen readers – it goes with the territory when digesting the news and crafting press releases, and thought leadership are central to your skillsets.

Reading for pleasure can be just as important as building knowledge, helping to build vocabulary and creative thinking. Whether constructing a pitch to pique the interest of top journalists or capturing the voice of our clients in thought leadership, those are hugely important skills for a cybersecurity specialist PR and marketing agency like Code Red.

Reflecting that, for the last three years, we’ve held a regular book club where we get together and discuss a chosen book over a drink or two. The last few sessions have seen us delve into many varied titles, including Richard Osman’s Thursday Murder Club, Victoria Mas’ The Madwoman’s Ball, and Ben Dixon’s The Heroic Truths of Neil Peel. Up next, our Senior Account Executive Tom Stinton has chosen Ralph Ellison’s timeless classic Flying Home: and Other Stories.
