Hitting the great outdoors for a good cause
You may not think to look at us, but the Code Red Comms team loves a good outdoor challenge. Before the pandemic put things on hold, we competed in a triathlon, slogged through a Tough Mudder, and trekked our way to the peak of Snowdon.
And now this weekend we’re heading out on a 13.5-mile trek along the Jurassic Coast.
But this time it’s about more than team bonding and fresh air.
Last year, our dear friend and colleague Steve Baker tragically passed away from Neuroendocrine (NET) Cancer. Steve was a wonderful friend, husband, and father, and my partner in crime on the Code Red content team. We all miss him.
Steve loved the outdoors and running in particular. He had multiple marathons under his belt, and even a couple of ultra-marathons.
Our Client Services Director Kim is probably the only one with a chance of making it through a marathon intact, so we’ll take the more manageable option of half the distance along the Jurassic Coast.
As well as raising some blisters, and later, some glasses, in Steve’s memory, we’re also raising funds for Neuroendocrine UK.
Apparently, we underestimated the kindness of our friends, family, and clients, because we’ve nearly hit our initial donation goal already. But just like Steve, we want to go that extra mile. If you have a moment to donate to our JustGiving Page, we’d all be incredibly grateful.
